Cultured Sounds Live returns for the first weekend installment of our quarterly events, showcasing forthcoming CS music alongside some very special guests. We arrive at The Amersham Arms in New Cross with a full line-up of live music, combining hip-hop, world fusion beats and conscious lyricism for your entertainment.

The sonic journey will begin with an improvised north Indian classical performance from Xtra Soula & Friends. Comprised of sitar, sarangi and flute, their extended set will evolve with the addition of loop pedals, effects and electronic drums that set the scene for the eclectic beats and lyricism to come.

…::: DURRTY GOODZ :::…

We’re excited to bring you one of the most highly respected artists to emerge from the UK in the last decade. Durrty Goodz has built a solid reputation amongst grime and hip-hop heads alike by transmitting his energising charisma on a variety of backings. His latest release ‘Not Been Televised’ shows DG’s revolutionary mindset and mastery of a slower more spacious flow – a project he co-produced with Micall Parknsun.  A 10-track grime follow-up entitled ‘Hungry Belly’ is due for release in August and promises to provide further fuel to what will be a fiery performance.

The beat-makers behind our May single ‘Imagination’ by Watusi87 & Majical and 2 forthcoming singles (Delta Lima – Pit it on Page & Vibrations Dub Posse Cut) have a full showcase planned with some heavyweight features.  The pair will be joined on stage by Tesla’s Ghost w/ Ray Vendetta, Blackk Chronical, Flowtecs, Watusi87, S.I Stature, 2xplicit & Fullmarx.

A veteran of the London hip-hop scene and internationally known off the back of collaborations with the likes of Cormega & Keith Murray, Triple Darkness member Phoenix is a versatile and highly expressive artist. We welcome him to the stage alongside the incredibly talented and soulful Indigo to premiere their forthcoming CS collaboration ‘Prophecy’ and some moving new material.

…::: MIKE KALLE w/ STREET SOULS (Sudaka album launch) :::…

The Street Souls head honcho is due to release his debut album ’Sudaka’ at the start of September, perfectly timed for the show. The man they call Mr. Latin Funk has combined forces with highly respected producer Morfius to create a multi-lingual, multi-faceted release that infuses salsa and hip-hop like no other. Expect an exclusive performance of forthcoming Street Souls banger ‘Allstar’ and some special guest appearances.

In house DJ & producer Opus has a string of music due for release on the label, most imminently ‘Allstar’ by Street Souls and ’Big Smoke’ by Delta Lima over the next couple months. With a burgeoning reputation among the hip-hop community OD will be bringing Ash the Author, St. Jude, Alexander & Delta Lima on stage to perform a medley of his productions.

…::: LEX AMOR :::…

Part of the SXWKS collective and host of the Mellowdic show on Represent Radio, Lex is building her reputation as a musical connoisseur and purveyor of soulful, warm-groove laden hip-hop and thoughtful lyricism. With an EP on the horizon and music in the works with Hybrid Freqs & Opus Dice, Lex Amor will be a name many are soon familiar with.

After the success of our previous cyphers we’ve expanded the open mic to contain two 30-min parts with a guest producer for each slot. We welcome 2 MPC magicians to run beats, namely Akira (aka Phonix) of Listenin Records and Crate Divizion heat-maker PhybaOptikz. Vocalists get in touch to guarantee a spot.
